Joanna Bennett Wins 2019 Taurus World Stunt Award

Joanna Bennett won the 2019 Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Overall Stunt By A Stunt Woman for her rooftop chase scene in Aquaman (video below). In the video we see Mera, played by Amber Heard and Aquaman, played by Jason Momoa, fend off Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, as they are chased through a coastal town in Sicily. The scene is actually stunt doubled by Joanne Bennett for Amber Heard. Congratulations on a job well done Joanna Bennett!

Stuntwomen and actress Joanna Bennett has worked in stunts on major production including Aquaman (2018), Captain Marvel (2019), Justice League (2017) and more. She lives in West Hollywood, California and is a gymnast who spent years learning how to fight. She learned to box, and trained in judo and jiu-jitsu. She began as a stunt double working on a gymnastics television show and got hooked on stunts. Her big break came when she was hired to stunt double Hailee Steinfeld in Barely Lethal (2015).

Joanna was also a stunt double for Amber Heard and Nicole Kidman in Aquaman (2018), for Emily VanCamp in Captain America: Civil War (2016), for Brie Larson in Captain Marvel (2019), for Brie Larson and Karen Gillan in Avengers: Endgame (2019), for Adrianne Palicki in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2015) episode Among Us Hide… and for Bridget Regan in the Agent Carter (2016) episode The Lady in the Lake.

Joanna was also a motion capture stunt double in Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018).
